Pro Skateboarder, Scott H. Bourne is admired across the industry for his uncompromising work ethic and his caustic integrity.
He currently resides in Paris, where he is simultaneously editing his first novel and working on his second. His writing has been featured in magazines both inside and outside of skateboarding and penned his own column for Slap for a number of years.
He is currently making the rounds across Europe to promote a text and video project executed in Mongolia in 2004 as well as collection of poetry entitled Cheating on the Metronome.
When he is not at his desk typing on his Ole’ Corona, he will most likely be found wandering the City of Light in search of the words that cause a man to write; As the French would say «s’il n’existait pas, il aurait fallu l’inventer».

New short-film : isla kuriat

Here is a report on Kuriat, it is the name of a Tunisian archipelago. She constitutes of two small islands situated east of Monastir. The biggest, 3,5 km long and 2 km wide, cover approximately 270 hectares. Separated by two kilometers the small covers approximately hundred hectares the major part of which is formed by low lands and by intertidales plains. The substratum is constituted by stoneware and by carbonated rocks covered with sand put deposited by the sea. Islands are flat and low (maximum 5 meters over the sea level).

This report is important for me because these islands play an important role from the point of view of the biodiversity: they establish a migratory stopover for an important avifauna as the gull classified as vulnerable species. They are also one of the main sites of nesting of the turtle caouanne (Caretta caretta) in the South of the Mediterranean Sea, and therefore, constitute a vulnerable ecosystem.

He is to indicate that in the north and rocky part of both islands and in very low depths there are formations of fundof maërl considered as very rare and very vulnerable in the Mediterranean scale.

Brice Gelot est l’auteur d’une série de photos que l’on peut appeler “moments de vie”. Des lieux divers, des personnages différents et des émotions variées se côtoient dans ce panorama montrant comment l’artiste nous partage ses rencontres à des moments précis de son existence.

Depuis combien de temps faites-vous de la photo ? Comment cette passion vous est elle venue ?
Brice Gelot- Je fais de la photo depuis 1999. J’ai commencé en autodidacte par l’argentique à photographier mes amis en skate/bmx, et petit à petit je me suis intéressé aux photos de rue. Puis vers 2006, j’ai évolué dans le Reportage qui est aujourd’hui le plus gros de mon travail.

Qu’est ce qui selon vous fait une « bonne photo »?
Comme l’a dit Capa “Si vos photos ne sont pas assez bonnes, c’est parce que vous n’êtes pas assez près.” …Il sera toujours meilleur d’être au plus près du sujet, mais ce qui fait une bonne photo c’est avant tout sa composition.

Comment travaillez vous ? Partez vous photographier quelque chose de particulier ou vous laissez vous porter par les événements ?
Cela dépend : dans le Reportage, j’essaye de travailler au maximum avec des associations et/ou œuvres humanitaires de façon a donner mon aide en premier et ensuite montrer la vraie vision des choses grâce à mes photos. Je recherche et suis disponible dans le monde entier pour des reportages et documentaire.

Quel matériel utilisez vous ?
Je travail en Canon, 5d, 7d et Canon Lens.

Avez vous un artiste qui vous inspire ? Avez vous un photographe que vous admirez ?
J’ai beaucoup d’admiration pour de nombreux photographes de chez Magnum.

Jamais 2 sans 3 nous dit le dicton, alors respectons-le et vous voilà, une fois de plus, avec notre nouveau zine sous les yeux. Un numéro annonçant du renouveau, le sommaire vous l'ayant déjà révélé. Qui dit renouveau dit changement et comme vous avez pu le voir le site passe en V2, plus clair et intéractif que l'ancien il vous permettra d'interargir avec nous plus facilement, ainsi que de voir ce que nous faisons en temps "réel" mais aussi les inspirations que nous trouvons en glanant sur le web. Vous l'avez donc compris, la V2 est tournée vers vous. Le renouveau se trouve aussi dans les sujets, les images mais aussi avec la venue de nouveaux membres dans nos rangs qui représenteront Feel Frame. Ils viennent mettre du sang neuf dans le collectif et nous apportent en même temps de nouveaux regards. Bienvenue à Jonathan Scanzi et Jérémie Carrere.
Célébrons aussi le retour de notre ami l'été, qui, après bien des soucis climatiques, est de retour pour le plus grand plaisir de tous. Le printemps fut un bon allié pour ce numéro comme l'été le sera pour le prochain, qui s'annonce coloré.

Aaaahhh ! Voici le printemps ! Il pleut encore un peu, mais, le soleil, derrière ces nuages, nous interpelle. Il nous fait signe comme pour nous dire de préparer le matos. Et une bonne nouvelle ne venant jamais seule, à l’instar des oiseaux et des fleurs, le Frame Up ! revient, en retard certes, mais mieux vaut tard que jamais. . .
Malgré le temps incertain de l'hiver, les productions de chaque membres et les projets ont aboutis, vous trouverez à l'intérieur de ce FrameUp! 02 du fixie, beaucoup de noir et blanc et d'arbres morts, la 1 ° manche du WRT ainsi que des spots montpellierains.
Pour ce numéro Mathieu et Jérôme ont fouillé dans leurs archives pour en sortir un sujet commun sur le 50 mm avec de vieux clichés, N&B, diapo ou numérique. Vous êtes une fois de plus gâté et nous vous avons encore concocté un numéro aux petits oignons et, avec le retour du beau temps sur nos régions, de nouveaux projets arrivent que nous ne tarderons pas à vous dévoiler.

Qui es-tu ?
Brice Gelot, photographe indépendant, né le 18/09/1985 à Dijon.

BMX
Le bmx est pour moi l'une de mes premières vraies grandes passions. J'ai commencé à rouler à l'age de 15ans avec mes potes et en parallèle j'ai commencé la photographie, je shootai mes potes. Puis j'ai évolué j'ai fait des photos pour divers contest, divers riders, style, mentalité. Beaucoup de photos sont de bmxer Dijonnais (ma ville natale) je trouve que le niveau est très bon.

SKATE
Tout comme le bmx je traînais avec une bande de skaters, j'ai commencé à photographier les potes pour après faire des photos pour le skateshop local, team pro, événements...

LIVE
Je me suis intéressé à la scène live show car la musique collait bien avec ces sports, je restais ciblé sur une scène punk, rock ou métal.

STREET LIFE
L'univers "urbain" et les photos de rues m'ont toujours attirés, j'aime prendre ces instants de vie partout où je vais.

REPORTAGE
Le plus gros de mon travail est le reportage, je cherche des sujets peu communs et de faire en sorte de montrer ma vision à travers mon objectif. Certains sujets sont lourds à aborder et pas évidents non plus. Mon but est de faire en sorte que mes images parlent plus que des mots.

MATOS
Je travaille avec du Canon essentiellement, en boîtier le 5D mark II qui ne me quitte plus et le 7D qui est également très bon. En optique cela varie du travail que j'ai besoin, 17-35, 50, 24-70, 70-300, grand angle ... flash speed light.

COLLECTIF
Je fais parti de deux collectifs photos, eternal-core que j'ai moi-même créé en 2004. Et feel frame que j'ai rejoint en 2009. Le collectif Feel Frame c'est quatre photographes, un vidéaste, soit 5 regards différents. Jérôme Bruley, Brice Gelot, Vincent Perraud, Mathieu Poussou et Vincent Rigault. Le but est de promouvoir ces visions, les mêler, les confronter, leur donner les moyens d'influencer, pour enfin toucher. Ainsi chacun permet de faire évoluer le collectif et le collectif permet de faire avancer chacun. C'est grâce à des expositions, des vidéos, un webzine, des publications, des rencontres et de multiples projets que le collectif Feel Frame s'exprime et partage.

Frame Up! C’est une publication du collectif Feel Frame dans laquelle vous retrouverez les travaux des membres, à travers divers projets personnels ou collectifs, présentés sous forme aboutie ou comme extrait de sujets complets à venir.
Exclusivités, images non parues, défis ou simple envies, voilà ce qui composent les pages de notre Frame up! . À la croisée des chemins, entre book et magazine nous l'avons voulu sobre mais efficace, ici peu de place pour les mots afin que l'image prenne tout son sens. . .
C’est ainsi que nous avons décidé de faire connaissance avec vous. De ce fait cet éditorial tient plus de l’épistolaire ou du billet que de sa fonction véritable, l’essentiel étant surtout ce qu'il y a après. Nous voulons partager ce qui est en nous, ce qui en ressort.

“The idea of a perfect picture seems to us to be something that cannot be agreed upon universally.Whatever you decide are the rules to judge your choice by will matter not a jot to the next pair of eyes which have a different set of rules which they use to judge their own perceived perfection.

We thought the idea of being out of focus should be as important as being in focus, after all what’s in the picture remains, even if you can’t see it in the way you have been programmed to, it is there somewhere, complete and perfect in its own way.

We’ve agreed to showcase these ideas on the back cover of the legendary BMX magazine, DIG. We will be doing a series of 6 adverts in total all from our favorite photographers. The first 2 are shown below.

At the end of the series we will be having UK gallery exhibitions in our London Carnaby Street and Bristol stores.

Hi Brice, who are you?
Brice Gelot, independant photographer, 24 years old.
At the present time, I live in Dijon, a small french town. I belong to 2 collectives : eternal-core that I’ve created in 2005 and I joined feel frame created in 2009.
I take skate and bmx pictures because I’m surrounded by this atmosphere since childhood. Then, I began to take pictures of my friends and I evolved.
Now i’m really interested in reporting.

Where are you right now?
At the moment, I’m at home with my girlfriend.

What’s your current camera set up?
I only work with Canon, especially with Eos 5D Mark II, 7D, Canon lenses and my old 300D rebel.

What’s your current skateboard set up?
I don’t skate, only some bmx.
I began photography in 1999 with my friends. I work with teams like Antiz, Syndrom, Doble, Shifty and I work for Volcom Europe.

What inspires you?
In photography like in my life, I’m inspired by reporting…I want to show my vision, my ideas through my photos.

Who inspires you?
There are so much black and white talented photographer with different styles that I can’t name all of them. I’m found of history, art, design, painting, and music because this is where I find my inspiration.
My family and my girlfriend give me a reason to continue doing what I like and help me to always going further.

What was the last music track you listened to?

I really like this band and I often listen this song.
